Holidays for Adults with learning difficulties

Hi! I'm Sue Boyson. My husband and I have been providing supported holidays for adults with learning difficulties (conditions such as Asperger's and Down's Syndrome) at our home in Cornwall for the last four years. We provide full support in a family setting and try to tailor each holiday to suit the client's individual needs and desires. Barlandue is nestled in the Cornish countryside, a few miles from the seaside resort of Looe and a short, but steep stroll from  the historic fishing village of Polperro. With views to the sea and across rolling hills, it is an ideal spot for a holiday.

There are dozens of visitor attractions in the area, ranging from beaches, train trips, boat trips, monkey sanctuary, theme parks, shopping trips and the Eden Project. For the more energetic there is the possibility of horse riding, cycling, walking and canoeing, and for those who want to learn new skills, we offer cookery and gardening schools, as well as opportunities for arts and crafts.

We also have a static caravan on Killigarth Manor nearby, so we can accommodate carers or parents of adults with learning difficulties. Or even support up to 2  clients for a genuine holiday experience. For further details of the caravan please see our sister site www.barlandue.co.uk

All meals and transport during the holiday are included, but not transport to and from Barlandue. However we can organize pick ups from local train or bus stations.

For 2012, the cost of a holiday (typically up to 7 nights) has been held at £500 for 5 nights, or £675 for 7 nights, but if there are special requirements, please phone  or email to discuss the details.

A non-refundable deposit of £50 will secure the holiday and the balance should be paid 6 weeks before arrival. In the event of a cancellation, 4 weeks notice must be given. Please note, carers should arrange for Service Users to be picked up by 11.00 am on day of departure.

In 2012 we hope to have another site in West Devon who will be able to offer supported holdiays!
